A Love Restored 57
Chapter 57
We took so many pictures in the photo booth. Hundreds, maybe. And then I forced Felix to get some pictures done by the photographers. He indulged me. He kept saying it was my day. It was his. I would have another prom in two years. We would have another prom, actually,
I guess with each passing day. Felix was feeling the weight of our separation more and more. I knew it was coming, too. I felt it too. It weighed on me like a rock on my shoulder. But what was there to be done?
Patience. It was the only thing that would hold us together.
When we finally made it inside, we went up to his friends. I met them all and greeted them. I missed Tilly, today. Sure, I was friends with Felix’s friends, but having her around would have made me feel a hundred times more comfortable.
A bit later, I was getting excited to dance. It didn’t look like Felix had any intention of it. He wasn’t big on dancing. But I was.
“Hey,” I nudged. He turned away from Nick to look at me. I stared up at him, trying t
to make him realize what I wanted. Realization dawned on hin
“Ah,” he smiled softly, “Flora, will you dance with me?”
“Thought you’d never ask.”
The vibrant rhythm of the music echoed through the prom venue, and the dance floor pulsed with the energy of the people around us. A soft song was playing, and he pulled me to him, I put a hand on his shoulder. I liked being so close to him….
Felix and I moved in harmony, laughter bubbling between us as we navigated the dance floor. He was a terrible dancer. The pink sparkles of my dress kept getting caught on his clothes. By the end of the night, he’d be shining more than me. But it felt magical. It wasn’t the shimmering lights, or the music or the decoration creating a magical atmosphere around us. It was him.
How could I ever let this man go?
Felcheld me close, and the world outside of our dance seemed to fade away. The music wrapped around us as we moved together.
The song changed, slowing down into a romantic melody. Felix’s hand rested on the small of my back, and he pulled me closer. Our movements became more intimate, the dance floor transforming into our own private sanctuary.
“I’ve been looking forward to this all night,” “Ive been looking forward to this all night, Felix whispered, his breath warm against my ear.
“Me too,” I admitted, a smile playing on my lips. He moved closer till his breath fanned my face. He placed a chaste kiss on the corner of my mouth. It was enough to make my heart jump out of my chest.
The world melted away as we swayed to the music. Felix’s gaze held mine, a depth of emotion reflected in his eyes.
As the song reached its final notes, Felix dipped me low, a playful spark in his eyes. I laughed hysterically, I really thought I would fall,
“I didn’t know you gut moves,” I teased
“Only with you, flower, Shall we take a break?” he suggested, leading me away from the dance floor.
He led me by the hand, and we found a quiet corner, away from the bustling crowd. Outside the school building, the night air was cool, a refreshing contrast to the warmth of the dance floor. We leaned against a wall, the soft illumination of the venue lights casting a gentle glow.
I shivered.
Felix looked at me. “Cold?”
“Happy”
“You look amazing,” Felix said, his gaze dill holding mine.
I blushed, feeling a warmth sperading through me. “I had an amazing time with you.”

He reached for my hand, his touch comforting. “Flora, I wanted tonight to be special for you
“It already is.” I replied, a genuine smile on my face.
He took a deep breath, his expression sincere. “Flora, I care about you a lot. This night means a great deal to me because I get to share it with you.”
“I feel the same way, FelixTM

We went back inside soon, and the night continued with taughter, dancing, and the joy of shared moments. Eventually, as the prom came to an end, Felix and I made our way to his car. The excitement of the night lingered, and we drove through the quiet streets, the city lights creating a soft glow around us.
As we reached my house, Felix walked me to the door. I had an amazing time tonight, flower. I didn’t think I’d be the type to enjoy this juvenile event.”
“Me too, Felix” I replied, feeling a sense of contentment. I laughed. “Stop pretending you don’t love juvenile things.”
He hesitated for a moment before reaching into a small bag he had brought along with him from the car. I hadn’t even noticed it before he touched it. “I got you something.“.
“Really?” I gleamed in excitement.
He pulled out… a plush white cat, its fur soft and its eyes gleaming with an almost lifelike sparkle. I gasped in delight, my eyes widening.
Oh my God!
“Felix, it’s adorable!” I exclaimed, taking the gift in my hands. “Oh my God! I can’t believe

feeling a surge of warmth. I knew it the moment I saw her. I wanted to name her something relevant to us both. “Princess, I’ll name
He cocked his head, “Why?”
He didn’t remember it, but when we were younger, Felix used to tease me for being a pampered princess. He made me hate the word so much, as if it was a bad thing. Until my mom told me he is more pampered than I am, and he just likes to rile me up.
And then at some point in my childhood I had fallen in love with him. So everything he said, every word he spoke became sacred to me. He eventually stopped teasing me like that, when he grew up and, became this sweet, protective boy.
“Just like that,” I answered.
Felix chuckled. “Princess it is.
We stepped inside, and I led him to my room. We settled in and Felix and I sat on the bed, and I turned on the TV.
I was still wearing my dress, and he was in his tux. But I was too tired to change. Besides, I had a cat to play with. I wanted to go tell my mom immediately about this gift, but I guessed she was asleep so I didn’t disturb her
As I played with Princess, touching her soft purr while she pured, Felix scrolled through the options on Netflix, eventually settling on a classic
“You want to watch Disney?” I asked in surprise.
He never wanted to watch Disney.
He smiled, “Today is your day, remember?“.
Princess found a comfortable spot between us. Felix draped his arm around my shoulders, and I leaned against him. I don’t know when we both fell asleep. But when I woke up, Felix was almost fully lying on me, crushing me under his weight. Princess was on the floor.
And only one thought occurred to me, I wish to wake up like this every day of my life.
