The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 505

Chapter 505

Cordelia's old cell phone was gathering dust now, replaced by the sleek new smartphone that rarely left

her hand.

After Ronan returned to his grandfather's house, he dropped a quick message to Janice. [You'd better

have a word with your son. Tell him to keep his distance from Samantha.] He was wary of Samantha

taking advantage of Harold.

It didn't take long for Janice to respond. ["Mr. Evans, don't you worry.]

That very night, Janice had a heart-to-heart with Harold over the phone, filling him in on how Samantha

had once wronged Cordelia. Harold finally understood why Mr. Evans had cautioned him that day, but

he wasn't defiant. If Samantha's character was questionable, it only made sense to stay clear of her.

In the background of the video call, Harold heard a child's cough.

"Mom, is Callum sick?" he asked. "Mr. Evans isn't around. Didn't you accompany him to see the

doctor?"

"No big deal, probably just caught a chill this morning. I've made him some ginger tea, and he had an

apple. Tomorrow, I'll whip up some juice. Callum will bounce back in no time," Janice reassured Harold.

"Alright, then. You take care," Harold said before hanging up.

The next day, after the accounting class, Cordelia pulled Harold aside to speak about Samantha.

"Look, Cordelia, I got it. I'll keep my distance from her," Harold replied, a hint of impatience in his voice.

Several people had already spoken to him about his frequent contact with Samantha. As a young man,

it was natural for him to be a bit irked.

"Someone's already told you?" Cordelia asked while she packed up her books.

"Yeah, Mr. Evans, and my mom too. Oh, and by the way, did you know your son might be sick?" Harold

added. "I was video chatting with my mom yesterday and heard Callum coughing in the background.

Didn't sound good."

He didn't mention his mom's remedies, not wanting to give Cordelia another opening to loop back to

Samantha. He was tired of the constant warnings. It was not like there was anything going on between

him and Samantha, despite what everyone seemed to imply.

"Callum?" Cordelia's brow furrowed with concern. She almost stumbled, unsure if Callum's cough was

natural or deliberate.

Deliberate would mean Alana. She even feared the worst. What if Alana had poisoned Callum's drink

to harm him?

Rushing out of the classroom, Cordelia quickly checked her old phone to send Janice a message.

Instead, she was bombarded with a dozen photos sent by Samantha, each showing Ronan cozying up

with Petra. Some shots were quite intimate.

Cordelia tried to ignore them, but the timing was awful. Here she was, worried sick about her own child,

and there was Ronan, enjoying cozy moments with another woman and her child. Frustration swelled

in her chest, begging for release.

[Janice, how's Callum?] she messaged.

[Harold told you? It's nothing serious. I've made him some juice, and he's nearly better. Just a little

cold, nothing for you to worry about.] Came the reply.NôvelDrama.Org holds this content.

Cordelia breathed a slight sigh of relief, though she was still concerned. She messaged Ronan. [Where

are you? When are you going back to Millstone?]

[In a few days.]

[Callum's sick. Please, go check on him. I'm worried.]

[If you're worried, go yourself.] Ronan had just had a run-in with Eason and was quite irked with

Cordelia. Just the mention of Eason was enough to get under his skin. If it weren't for Eason accusing

him of being too forceful, Cordelia would have had a piece of his mind, but he was determined to shed

the label of being domineering, so he held back.

Cordelia, seeing his message and recalling the images of Ronan being affectionate with someone

else's child, couldn't help but let her anger color her words. [I have classes to teach!]

Ronan didn't reply. However, that evening, he showed up.

Both were brimming with unspoken anger.
