Chapter 20
“Yes, Mr. Salvatore!” Mikayla responded confidently.
“Alright, we’re setting up a temporary Team B in the marketing department with Mikayla as the leader. Mikayla, you can choose anyone, including managers, to help you complete this project. The current marketing department will now be Team A. If Team B needs help. Team A must offer full support.”
“Understood!” Philip Zabel, the former assistant director of the marketing department, stood up and responded. It was clear to everyone that Jorge was showing favoritism, but no one dared to speak up.
“Okay, the meeting adjourned!” Jorge announced. He then stopped Mikayla. “You stay back for a moment!”
Mikayla packed her things and walked to Jorge. “Mr. Salvatore. Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
“Call me ‘Dad‘ when no one is around Jorge pointed to his left and motioned for her to sit down.
“We should separate business and personal matters. At the company, you’re the chairman. At home, you’re my dad Mikayla smiled,
Jorge was relieved to see his daughter like this. I’ve always wanted to take care of you. Now, seeing you grow up seemingly overnight makes me very proud.”
“Dad!” Mikayla’s heart got heavy when she saw the white hair on Jorge’s sideburns and thought of his kindness to her.
“Alright, I’ll assign Quinnlyn as your secretary. It’ll help to have someone capable by your side. Jorge stood up and patted Mikayla on the shoulder. “Make a detailed schedule and estimate the budget, then submit them to my office.”
Mikayla nodded and followed Quinnlyn to the marketing department on the 17th floor, ignoring the curious looks and whispered conversations around her.
“Look! That’s her! The Lindstrom family called off the engagement first, and then she started seeing the eldest son of the Ludwig family.
“Are you jealous?”
“If I had her looks, her body, and her wealth, why would I even work?”
“I don’t get what these rich ladies are thinking
“Who knows? Maybe she just wants to show off or try living like normal people.”
Mikayla was temporarily assigned to the marketing director’s office, and Team B got its own area within the marketing department.
Mikayla was pleased with the director’s office. It was bright, with floor–to–ceiling windows that offered a panoramic view of the bustling streets below.
She closed the door, pulled down the blinds, and sat on the leather sofa, looking at Quinnlyn in front of her. She trusted Quinnlyn’s competence.
“I know it’s a lot being transferred from the chairman’s secretary to working with me, a presumptive team leader,” Mikayla said, noticing Quinnlyn’s expression. “But I don’t have time to comfort you. I need you to do what I’ve asked over these three months. After that, I’ll ask the chairman to transfer you back.”
Despite lowering her head, Quinnlyn felt Mikayla’s penetrating gaze. Being assigned to a newcomer wasn’t thrilling. Even
though Mikayla was the chairman’s daughter, Quinnlyn thought of her as another pampered rich girl.
“Now, get me a copy of the basic information of all the company’s employees. Mikayla tapped on the desk with one hand, frowning and thinking.
“Got it!” Though she was unhappy. Quinnlyn never complained about her assignment. This was also an important reason why she stood out among many secretaries and became the personal secretary of the chairman.
As Quinnlyn left and was about to close the door, Mikayla started her work and instructed without looking up, “Don’t let anyone disturb me. Also, bring me some fast food when you go out for lunch.”
