Chapter 111 I’m Sorry

Nathael considered himself rarely angered, but Maggie always seemed to pinpoint and provoke his emotions precisely, a few words breaking through his control and calm.

“It’s up to you,” Maggie said, looking straight at him with a light laugh, her smile carrying a hint of carelessness.

She knew she couldn’t keep asking him to trust her.

Maggie had already said those words before, and she couldn’t keep repeating them.

Nathael remained silent. He pushed her away, redoing the buttons she had undone, and then he left expressionless.

A bang‘ echoed as the door closed, leaving Maggie alone in the office.

She sat in Nathael’s chair, staring at the lunchbox in front of her. Her mood was far from good.

She had never really coaxed anyone, neither in her past life nor in this one.

Joseph was always adept at coaxing women. Though he always complained that she was dull and cold, it was undeniable that she had never tried to coax him.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have schemed so desperately for the Camerons to make him happy.

As for Nathael, she had never coaxed him either.

In the past, when she needed something from him, she was always half–hearted in her efforts, and he silently indulged her.

Later, after they married, it was Nathael who pampered her.

She was blind and disfigured, filled with resentment towards him. Her temper was really bad; she never once cared about his feelings or read his expression.

After all, she couldn’t see.

Inevitably, he always shows up happily, but his enthusiasm always met with a bucket of cold water. It was hard for him to be happy.

Bored, Maggie played with his pen. She flipped over a piece of scrap paper. After some thought, she wrote down a line. Once, there was a little duck in line, trying to align with the duck in front.

But no matter what it tried, it just couldn’t get it right. Finally, in frustration, it shouted to the duck in front, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry! Can you hear me? I can’t get aligned!”

After she finished, Maggie added a little sad face emoji behind it

What else could she do? She owed him.

She had to coax the man she had wronged. Maggie felt it was surely karma.

After that, she folded the paper into a heart shape, then picked up her bag and left. It looks like she needed

Chapter 111 I’m Sorry

Nathael stood in another office on the same floor, gazing out the floor–to–ceiling windows at the bustling view outside. He couldn’t resist the urge to light up a cigarette.

After listening to Alex’s report, he remained silent for a long while.

Finally, he asked in a low voice, “Has she left?”

“Yes, she’s gone,” Alex confirmed.

Nathael’s Adam’s apple moved, unable to tell if it was disappointment, regret, or perhaps something else he was hoping for. He asked, “Did she say anything?”

Alex racked his brains and then replied, “No. Nothing”

Nathael gave a self–deprecating laugh. His eyes darkened, and he stayed silent.

The more aware one is in this world, the more pain they feel, because knowing they’re not the chosen one makes it all the more unbearable.

After finishing the cigarette, Nathael turned back to his office.

The white thermal lunchbox she brought remained quietly on his desk. Nathael paused for a few seconds, then gently opened the lunchbox. Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.

In front of him, there were four dishes.

There were vegetables and meats.

It wasn’t something ordered and brought to a pretend effort; it was evident she made it herself. On the omelette, she had even used black sesame to outline two little figures, hand in hand, looking reconciled.

Nathael took the fork. He sat down at his desk and began to eat in silence.

After a while, he cleaned up, his gaze catching a piece of folded paper on the desk, shaped into a heart, with a weepy face drawn on it.

Nathael picked up the folded paper, noticing there were words on the back.

He unfolded it. When he saw the handwriting, he couldn’t help but chuckle softly.

The rose she had chosen from the florist, which she claimed to be the largest one she could find, remained on his desk.

After leaving, Maggie went shopping to pick out a gift for Nathael, but before she could leave, she received a call from her mentor, Laura.

“Maggie, there’s a piano compétition organized by several major universities. The school intends for you. to participate. Do you have time?”

Maggie checked the time, according to Laura’s words and agreed to it

First Institute held many cherished memories for Maggie, both in this life and the past. As graduation approached, she was eager to shine once again as a student of the school.

“Then prepare well. I’m looking forward to your performance,” Laura said warmly. Then, she remembered something and added, “Oh, by the way, the spots for the overseas exchange program have been decided. Next month, you’ll be back just in time for the

piano competition, but you might not have much time to practice

“Don’t worry, Ms. Foster. There are plenty of pianos abroad. I’ll definitely get the chance to practice,” Maggie reassured her.

Laura smiled. She always enjoyed their conversation. Then I’ll be reassured.”

After hanging up. Maggie made some plans in her mind and then went to a coffee shop, ordering a cup of Americano.

She had chosen a pair of dark blue cufflinks with subtle glimmers as a gift for Nathael, finding them simple yet elegant and captivating.

Maggie took a photo from a nice angle and sent it to Nathael via WhatsApp.

T

Then, she wrote a text message. I bought you a gift. Stop being mad at me, okay?”

After sending the message, Maggie rested her chin on her hand and stared at her phone, lost in thought.

As expected, Nathael didn’t reply.

Feeling frustrated, Maggie sighed. She couldn’t understand why he was still upset just because she didn’t leave with him that day.

She had clearly told him that Fiona was still in the emergency room. Even if she didn’t tell him it was her own mother, shouldn’t he, as a friend of Ericko, have stayed until she was out of danger?

Meanwhile, Nathael looked at the message on WhatsApp in silence for a long time. After a while, he turned off the screen and placed it aside, ignoring it.

Maggie thought for a moment and then sent another text message. That day, Mrs. Adam needed urgent medical attention, so I had to wait until she was out of danger before leaving. Next time, I’ll definitely leave with you, okay?”

Maggie waited for about half an hour, but it was clear that Nathael had no intention of replying. Annoyed, she edited another message and sent it. ‘You’re so stubborn. I’ve given the gift to someone else. Goodbye!

After sending the message, Maggie packed up her things and left.

Humph! She’ll let him be mad if he wants to be.

She had already humbled herself so much, so why was he still putting on airs?

Maggie couldn’t understand why he was so angry about this. Was it more infuriating than last time when he heard her talking with Ronald about using him?

She had considered telling him that Philip and Fiona were her parents, but given their ambiguous relationship now, she felt she had no right to talk to him about it
