Chapter 93
Than POV
Who ever was hiding her, was hiding her well.
A few of the alpha's were willing to let me search their lands, the others not so much. Zane was going to try a few other packs before heading back to Amber Desert land, where I was now on my way back now.
I didn't like to be away from Alora for too long. It felt unnatural.
Pulling up to the alpha house I turn the car's music off before exiting the vehicle and heading to the front door. Opening the front door I call out to Alora, announcing my arrival but hear nothing back from her. The house was shrouded by an eerie silence. "Alora?" I push on her mind-link as I close the front door and toss my car keys into the dish on the side table.
"In the office..." Her voice responds through the mind-link, relief causing my tense muscles to relax.
"What are you doing in there?" I call out, walking into the kitchen first to switch on some coffee. Don't tell me she was finally getting on with some emails as the soon to be celebrated new Luna.
Casually I head into the office, expecting to find Alora sitting at my desk checking her emails when the scene that greets me is in fact my world unravelling before my very eyes.
Papers strewn across the office floor, boxes ripped open and my secure filing cabinet... broken into. Panic hits me in my chest like a punch as I expect to find Alora in the corner held as a hostage, when in fact my eyes can't believe what they are seeing...Alora holding documents in her hands as she scans through the information that I'm assuming is the information I didn't want her to see.
"What are you doing?"
"Lies...all lies. Since the moment I woke up." Her voice is breathy, her eyes frantically scanning the information before her.
"That's not true." I close the gap between us, to explain, but she takes a step back..away from me.
"First I find out you were married, and now this....what else aren't you telling me?" My blood turns cold as she holds in her hand the document from the pack doctor. Her medical summary from when she was in a coma. Her organ failure information. ""Alora... Listen to me.."
"Than stop...there's nothing you can say now. I know...I know I am dying."
"Alora!" I slam my hands to my ears not wanting to hear her say such things, then we she goes to repeat it I rush forward, placing my hand over her mouth to stop her from saying it.
"Don't." I growl, holding her close to me. Her eyes red and puffy, fresh tears flowing as I continue to cover her mouth.
It pains me to see her so upset, I was meant to be the one protecting her, keeping her happy but I just
can't seem to do either.
"I can't lose you." I whisper as I remove my hand from her mouth.
"Why didn't you tell me. From the moment I woke up my wolf has been disconnected, I've struggled with the simplest of things...the pain... Than my stomach is in constant pain. Why didn't you tell me the truth." She sobs into my chest, the weight of everything since she took that wolfsbane, since my own brother walked into the alpha house demanding she bged to him overhwiems me and my legs give way.
I keep ahold of her, making sure I take the brunt of the short fall to the ground where I just hold her tightly in my arms. She wraps her legs around my torso, rocking me back and forth.
"How could I, you are my everything. I couldn't even admit it to myself Alora. I didn't want you to feel the burden of guilt. It was a miracle you woke up, call me a fool but I hoped you would never need to know." I admit slowly in-between her sobs, stroking the back of her hair. "I feel guilt every day Than. The mental struggle of not being able to shift into my wolf, the guilt I feel for that, eats away at me every day. For what I did to you burns at me from the inside, and for what I did to Hector.." "Why does it always become about him."
"This is about him also Than. He found me, can you imagine the torture of finding your mate almost dead. Not just that, my actions resulted in him being thrown out of the pack. His only crime was loving me."
"I'm not listening to this, you don't bg to him, you bg to me!" I pull her arms off me, standing up and leaving her on the floor. I can't keep going round in circles. She can't keep thinking of another when' with me.
"I should have finished the bottle..." 1
"A red burning rage erupts from me, so strong that I could take on an entire pack and destroy them all with
my bare hands.
"What did you just say?" I bitterly ask, her words sounding like poison to my ears.
"If I had of succeeded you'd be married still, the pack having a Luna that could fulfill her duties and all this shit-show wouldn't have happened. Because I wouldn't be here." 1
My anger is tangible, I can feel it spreading out of me and into the room. My full alpha aura projects off me onto her, it's full strength taking her breath away.
She tries to fight it, so I apply even more strength to it. Something I have never done to Alora.
I regret it instantly when the colour drains from her face, her eyes rolling into the back of her head. Her body not strong enough to fight my command and she was unwilling to submit.
"Alora..." Fear, a fear I've only experienced once in my life takes over me. When Hector mind-linked me telling me he had found her all but dead, the memory lives on as the worst day of my life, this coming a close second. She knows, she knows that she is dying...my time is out. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
My heart thumps in my chest as I watch Alora collapse to the floor, her body unable to fight any longer.
